LAS VEGAS (KXNT/AP) — Las Vegas moves ahead in the quest to host the National Republican Convention in 2016.
The Republican National Committee narrowed the list of 8 contenders to 6 in an announcement Wednesday.
Besides Las Vegas, the other remaining contenders are Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, and Kansas City.
The RNC staff will now conduct initial visits before cities are selected for official visits by a selection committee. The RNC will also review each location’s financing, convention space, media workspace and hotels.
Cities chosen for official site visits by the full selection committee will be announced in May.
